Inside Mole CLI

Review storage and maintenance tasks from a terminal
Mole CLI brings several desktop maintenance tasks into a terminal menu: storage analysis, cache cleanup, application removal and live system monitoring. It is free software under GPL-3.0. This listing covers the command-line project, not the separately sold Mole graphical applications.
Choose the branch for your operating system
The main branch targets macOS 12 or later on Intel and Apple silicon. Windows has its own branch for Windows 10/11 with PowerShell 5.1; the script installation requires Git and may require Go when native tools must be built. Linux is a separate, early-stage branch. Its first targets are Arch-based systems, with Debian/Ubuntu support for apt and Snap; features vary by distribution and package manager.
The branches have different release schedules. A macOS release number does not identify every Windows or Linux build. Follow the official README for your platform rather than installing an unrelated package with the same name.
Analyse first, then choose what to remove
The disk analyser helps locate large folders; the status view shows changing resource use. Cleanup targets include selected caches and temporary files, while project cleanup can remove rebuildable development output. Removing cached data can cause a later download or rebuild. It does not guarantee a faster computer or a particular amount of recovered space.
Preview destructive operations with the documented dry-run option and read the paths before confirming. Deletion and Trash behaviour differ between commands and operating systems. Keep an independent backup of important files and add protected locations to the available whitelist. Do not treat every large folder as disposable.
Official installation, without a repackaged helper
The repository documents package-manager and source installation methods. Some release attachments are native analysis or status helpers, rather than a complete application installer. Our download button opens the official project so that you can choose the complete installation route for your platform. Freeware Catalog has not run cleanup commands or independently measured the publisher's results.
The gallery shows a publisher-provided Windows CLI menu. It is not a screenshot from our own cleanup session, and it does not illustrate the separate paid Windows GUI.
- Best for
- Terminal users who want to inspect disk usage and preview maintenance actions before changing files.
- Good to know
- Free CLI; paid GUI products are separate. Platform branches differ, Linux is early-stage, and cleanup can permanently remove files.
Official platform guides
Use the macOS project, Windows CLI branch or Linux CLI branch. Read the instructions and accompanying GPL licence before installing. Paid graphical applications are separate products.
