MacClean download for Mac

MacClean by Thulem groups disk analysis and cleanup in a native macOS application. It is useful when you want to understand a storage problem before deciding what to remove: a large chat-media folder, old application caches, duplicate downloads or developer files that have accumulated over time. This is an independently developed product, separate from iMobie's application of the same name.

Choose a task, then inspect the files

Storage Map helps you explore folder sizes, while the System Data view separates sources such as snapshots, backups and caches. The chat-cleanup tools cover WeChat, QQ and WeCom media. The publisher says these tools inspect files and generate local thumbnails rather than reading message databases. Removing an attachment can still make it unavailable inside the original conversation, so keep important media before clearing it.

Other sections cover large and old files, application removal, duplicate files and similar photos. Developer Tools distinguishes build caches such as Xcode DerivedData from archives and locally stored AI models. Deleting a cache can mean a later rebuild or download; a release archive, backup or model you still use should not be treated as disposable just because it is large.

What can be undone

Ordinary file cleanup first moves selected items to the Trash. Cleanup History can restore those files while they remain there. Moving something to the Trash does not immediately recover its disk space. Emptying the Trash, deleting local snapshots and Docker cleanup have different consequences and cannot be undone through Cleanup History.

Keep an independent backup and review the paths and explanations before confirming. Recovery from an existing snapshot or Time Machine backup depends on that copy still being available. MacClean is not antivirus software, and this listing does not promise a faster Mac or a fixed amount of recovered storage.

Requirements, permissions and privacy

The publisher supports macOS 14 Sonoma or later on Apple silicon and Intel with a universal application. Full Disk Access is optional but needed to inspect some protected locations; without it, scan coverage is reduced. The release notes describe Apple Development signing, with Developer ID signing and Apple notarization not yet completed. Freeware Catalog did not install the app or independently validate its macOS signing chain. Do not treat a malicious-software warning as an ordinary developer-verification prompt or disable system-wide protection to run it.

The privacy policy describes local file scanning, update checks and optional usage statistics that are off by default. This is the publisher's stated data handling, not an independent network audit. The English gallery images are official interface previews with illustrative data, not scans of our own Mac.

Free use and source availability

The Community License makes all features free for personal and internal business use, including internal deployment, without activation, a trial period or a device limit. It permits free sharing with the required notices retained. Selling copies or integrating the code into a paid product or service requires a separate agreement. Source is public, but this licence is not OSI-approved open source. Our DMG is the complete official file, unchanged.
