Measure gaming sessions and review Windows tweaks
LeanFPS is a Windows utility for examining gaming performance and applying selected system changes. It recognizes a running game, records frame-rate measurements, and provides settings that can be reversed. The useful question is not whether a preset promises more FPS, but whether a change improves your own game's average frame rate and low-frame performance. Results depend on hardware, drivers, background activity, and the game.
What remains free
The permanent free core includes game detection, session FPS statistics, comparisons with earlier sessions, and five system tweaks. These cover the power plan, core parking, Game Mode, background recording, and keeping the computer awake. The first three games include a trial of the Pro features; that trial is separate from the ongoing free core.
Pro adds additional session and genre-specific settings and is sold as an optional one-time purchase. Check the publisher's pricing page for the current price, activation rules, and offline licence limits. The early-bird price is not a promise of permanent pricing.
Compare measurements, not illustrations
LeanFPS uses Windows Event Tracing for frame-rate monitoring and stores session averages and low-frame statistics. Repeat a comparable game scene when assessing a change: different maps, graphics settings, and workloads can overwhelm the effect of a Windows tweak. The example FPS values on the publisher's website are illustrations, not our benchmark results.
Permissions and reversibility
The program requires administrator rights to change supported Windows settings. The publisher describes per-setting undo and restoration of session changes when a game closes. Some free system settings can persist until restored, so do not assume every change disappears after every session. Review each selected setting, and use Restore all when returning to the previous configuration.
The official terms do not guarantee an FPS improvement or compatibility with every anti-cheat policy. The current installer is unsigned, which may trigger a Windows publisher or reputation warning. Our listing links to the official download page at the developer's request; we do not host this installer or advise bypassing security warnings.
- Best for
- Comparing Windows gaming sessions and selectively testing reversible system tweaks.
- Good to know
- Windows 10/11 x64; administrator rights required. Unsigned installer. Pro trial lasts three games; the free core remains available.
How should I compare a tweak?
Use the same game, scene, graphics settings, and background workload for several sessions. Compare low-frame results as well as averages, and keep only changes that help your actual setup. This is a measurement workflow, not a guaranteed performance boost.
Where are the complete rules?
Read the publisher's Free and Pro comparison and terms before purchase or use. These describe activation, optional paid features, and responsibility for checking game or league policies.
