Rock and Metal internet radio, without an installation

DRockRadio is a free portable internet radio player for Windows, built around Rock and Metal stations rather than a general-purpose music library. Its curated database contains around 300 stations, with browsing by genre, subgenre and country. If you already know what you want to hear, station search helps you find a stream without working through the whole list.

Find stations and keep your favorites

The player separates its station database, Favorites and My Stations. Favorites gives you a shorter list of stations you return to regularly. My Stations lets you add, edit or remove your own radio streams, so listening is not limited to the supplied directory.

Station availability is controlled by each broadcaster. A stream can be temporarily offline or change its address; trying another station or refreshing the database may help. Updating the station database does not update the application itself.

Track information and listening controls

When a station or online metadata source supplies it, DRockRadio can display the artist, track name, artwork, bitrate and online status. A live visualizer accompanies playback. Play, Stop, volume and mute controls cover the everyday listening workflow. Missing artwork or track names does not necessarily mean playback has failed: some broadcasters simply do not provide those details.

Normal, Fullscreen and Mini modes

Choose the normal player view for browsing, Fullscreen for a larger presentation, or Mini when you want a compact player alongside other work. Appearance settings let you change the visual theme. The interface is available in English and Czech.

Download and run the portable Windows package

DRockRadio 1.0.0 is distributed as a portable ZIP for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. Extract the entire archive to a folder, then launch DRockRadio.exe from that folder. Keep the accompanying DLL files and subfolders together; copying out only the executable will not preserve the complete application. Do not launch it directly from inside the ZIP.

An internet connection is needed for radio playback, available metadata and artwork, and station database updates. There is no offline music collection included with the download.

Freeware licence and download checks

The developer states that no account, subscription or activation is needed. Donations are optional and are not a fee for using the player. DRockRadio may be shared in its original, unmodified ZIP package; bundled third-party components retain their own licences. Freeware does not mean the application's source code is available.

On 6 October 2026, we verified that the downloaded ZIP matched the checksum on the developer's website. The available VirusTotal reports showed 0 detections from 63 reporting engines for the ZIP and 0 detections from 70 reporting engines for the main EXE. These are dated scan results, not a guarantee of safety. The application was not executed during our review.

Best for
Rock and Metal listeners who want a dedicated Windows radio player with station discovery, favorites and a compact listening mode.
Good to know
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Extract the complete ZIP before launching DRockRadio.exe. Internet access is required; station availability, artwork and track information depend on the broadcaster. No account or subscription is required.

DRockRadio questions and practical tips

Is DRockRadio free to use?

Yes. The developer distributes DRockRadio as freeware without a required account, subscription or activation. Donation options support the project voluntarily; a donation is not a licence purchase.

What should I download?

Download the complete portable ZIP for DRockRadio 1.0.0. It contains the player and its supporting libraries. Our hosted download preserves the original archive, including its README files and third-party notices. The official website is also linked in the download panel.

Does DRockRadio need installation?

No installer is required. Extract the whole ZIP first and start DRockRadio.exe from the resulting application folder. If the program does not start, check that its DLL files and subfolders were not removed or left inside the archive.

Which operating systems are supported?

The published package targets 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. This listing does not claim support for macOS, Linux or 32-bit Windows.

Can I add a station that is not in the directory?

Yes. My Stations provides controls for adding, editing and removing your own radio streams. Favorites is a separate list for quick access to stations you already like.

Why are a song title or album cover missing?

Those details depend on the station and available online metadata. Not every stream publishes artist and track information. If the stream itself is offline, try another station or use the database update option; that refreshes the station list rather than installing a new program version.

Can I listen without an internet connection?

No. DRockRadio plays internet radio streams. Playback, metadata, artwork and station database updates require online access.

Is a zero-detection scan a safety guarantee?

No. VirusTotal results describe the scanned file at the time of analysis. They cannot guarantee that software is risk-free. The ZIP checksum was verified against the publisher's website, and the main executable was inspected without running it. Review the linked report and the official release information before deciding to run a download.

Where can I find more information?

The official DRockRadio website describes the player and its sharing terms. The version 1.0.0 release provides the download, and the archive includes an English user guide.
