Inspect the inputs your controller exposes to the browser

Gamepad Bench is a free web tool for checking a controller without installing a desktop utility or creating an account. Connect a supported gamepad over USB or Bluetooth, press a button to make it visible to the browser and inspect the inputs exposed through the browser's Gamepad API.

Check sticks, buttons and trigger movement

The tester displays button states and axis movement, with focused views for stick drift, deadzones and circularity. These views can help you see whether a stick returns near its centre or whether a button produces repeated transitions. An idle capture can produce a compact diagnostic summary for comparison or discussion.

Measurements depend on controller firmware, connection mode, browser mapping and operating-system support. A non-zero reading is not automatically proof of a hardware fault, and a clean trace does not replace a repair diagnosis. Compare like-for-like settings and repeat a measurement before drawing a conclusion about a controller.

Browser support limits advanced tests

Vibration works only where the device and browser expose a compatible actuator. Some controller-specific functions shown in the site's navigation are not accessible through an ordinary web API. In particular, a generic button or trigger reading does not test DualSense adaptive-trigger resistance.

The polling view infers update behaviour from timestamps made available to the browser. It is not a direct measurement of the controller's hardware polling clock or complete end-to-end game latency. Background tabs, scheduling and Bluetooth can affect the observations.

Local controller data and aggregate sharing

The privacy policy says controller measurements are handled locally. Saved baselines and share links use aggregate results rather than a raw controller identity; report links store their summary in the URL fragment. A person with a shared link can read the included summary, so inspect it before sending it.

The website separately discloses analytics and advertising services. No hardware was connected during our editorial review, and we have not certified the tool's calibration or measured a specific controller.

Best for
Inspecting controller input and collecting a repeatable browser-level summary before troubleshooting.
Good to know
No account or desktop download. Browser and device support vary; timestamp estimates are not hardware polling or end-to-end latency measurements.

Browser testing and privacy

Open Gamepad Bench and consult its privacy policy. Follow the tool-specific support notes before interpreting a vibration, polling or controller-specific test. Browser observations are one part of troubleshooting, not hardware certification.
