Convert and inspect models in a browser workspace
FabRapid 3D brings model conversion, compression and viewing into a browser workspace. It is intended for quick file handoffs and inspection when you do not want to install a separate desktop utility. The public studio offers a file picker and export choices without first presenting an account or checkout requirement.
CAD and mesh workflows
The website provides entry points for common formats such as STEP, STL, GLB and OBJ. Its studio also lists exports including FBX, PLY, 3MF, IGES and glTF. Not every source-and-destination pair has the same capabilities: choose a supported route and inspect the actual export options after opening the model. We avoid quoting a fixed total because the site's visible format counts and social metadata currently differ.
Use the viewer to inspect a model, conversion to prepare a supported output, and compression where a smaller representation is appropriate. These are related tasks, not a promise that every conversion preserves editable CAD solids, assembly relationships, textures or all application-specific properties. Check dimensions, units, geometry and materials in the receiving program, and keep an untouched source copy.
Processing and practical limits
The publisher describes the core converter, compressor and viewer as browser-local tools using WebAssembly. The source file is selected in the public studio rather than submitted through a desktop installer. Performance and the size of model you can handle will depend on available browser memory, the format and the complexity of the scene. A browser tool is not a substitute for checking an engineering deliverable in its intended CAD or manufacturing application.
This listing covers the model-file tools. The separate Image to 3D link should not be read as confirmation that AI generation is free, available without an account or processed locally under the same conditions.
Before using confidential models
At review time, the linked privacy and terms pages still contained placeholder policy text. The local-processing description is therefore a publisher claim, not an independent network or security audit by Freeware Catalog. Avoid confidential or restricted models until you have reviewed adequate current policies and confirmed the handling requirements for your project. Browser execution and conversion quality were not independently tested in this review.
- Best for
- Quick 3D format handoffs and model inspection without installing a desktop utility.
- Good to know
- Browser-local processing is publisher-described, not independently audited. Privacy and terms pages contain placeholder text. Verify exported geometry; AI Image to 3D is separate.
Official workspace
Open the model studio or browse the publisher's format directory before preparing a handoff. The listed file formats do not guarantee lossless conversion or support for every possible format pair.
