Group a busy Windows desktop into readable zones
DskManager organises icons on the Windows desktop into named groups, or zones. It is intended for people who want to keep frequently used shortcuts and working files visible while reducing the time spent searching through an unstructured desktop. The publisher offers it as freeware without a subscription.
Use groups and compact list views
A zone gives related desktop items a distinct area: for example, current documents, work shortcuts or utilities used less often. List Mode provides a more compact way to scan the contents of a group. This changes how desktop items are presented; it is not an indexed search engine for every folder on the computer.
Group items around the way you work rather than treating the organiser as a backup or a file-recovery system. Keep important documents in an appropriate folder structure and maintain an independent backup. A tidy desktop does not establish that files have been copied, synchronised or protected against deletion.
The download is an online installer
Our download is the complete, unmodified official Windows x64 setup launcher. It is a small online installer that obtains additional application components, not a full offline distribution. An internet connection is required, and a scan of the launcher does not cover files it may later retrieve.
The setup wrapper itself is a 32-bit PE executable, while the official download route is explicitly for the x64 application. These are different facts: the wrapper header does not mean that this package is a separate 32-bit application build. The official site lists Windows 10/11. Select another architecture only from a matching official route.
Scope of our review
We checked the official website, package metadata and exact launcher's hash. A matching VirusTotal report had no malicious or suspicious findings at review time. That is a limited observation, not a guarantee of safety or a review of every component subsequently downloaded. We did not execute the setup program or independently validate its signing chain.
The publisher's privacy policy discusses service information, support correspondence and website logs. It should be read before installation; no blanket offline or zero-telemetry claim is made here.
- Best for
- Keeping Windows desktop shortcuts and working files grouped into compact, readable areas.
- Good to know
- Windows 10/11. The x64 download is an online setup launcher and needs internet access; later downloaded components are outside the launcher scan.
